My Positions.
FUNDING PUBLIC EDUCATION
The State of New Hampshire has a Constitutional obligation to participate in funding public education. The State is not living up to this requirement. The overwhelming burden to fund education is on towns and cities through property taxes. This places towns with lower property values in the unenviable position of creating additional burdens on property owners as well as on students who may not have the advantage of adequate funding for schools. I will advocate for sustainable public education funding.
HEALTH CARE
Every citizen of New Hampshire should be entitled to and have access to affordable health care. I am less concerned with the path to get there than the end result - universal healthcare coverage for all citizens of New Hampshire.
MINIMUM WAGE
Every worker in New Hampshire should be payed a fair wage. New Hampshire's minimum wage has not increased when cost of living changes are factored in. At a minimum, we need a wage that is on par with our neighboring states to attract workers for the needs of our businesses.
FAMILY LEAVE
An affordable and sustainable Family Leave Plan should be available to all workers in New Hampshire. Period.
DISCRIMINATION
There is no place for discrimination of any kind. None. All races, ethnicities, religions, colors, sexual orientations, gender identities, and people with disabilities should be treated equally. One does not suspend personal rights when they extend those same rights to others.
POLICE FUNDING
It is a fallacy that Democrats believe in "defunding the police." I clearly do not. This is not to say that our Men In Blue are invincible. But police must, and can, do better. Our law enforcement budget should be focused on the best training possible and increased testing. We must weed out personnel who may not be wellsuited for the job. Character matters.
CLIMATE CHANGE
Hoax? Fake news? No. This is a real threat.
